A: No, Scholtens Inc. is a proud Canadian company, specializing in the packaging and distribution of delicious candies, nuts, and trail mixes across Canada with quality being our main focus. We source many of our products from Canadian manufacturers, as well as high quality products imported from the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and the US.
A: Thanks to its high sugar content, candy can last a crazy-long time! However, there is a time frame where it is at its freshest! The Lot Code on the packaging will indicate the freshest Best Before.
A: The Lot Code is a 5 digit code that indicates the Best Before date on Cottage Country products. Using the Julian Calendar. The first 2 digits refer to the year and the next 3 digits refer to the day of the year.
Example: Lot Code: 24365 – “The First two digits “24” will refer to the year (2024) and the last 3 digits “365” will refer to the day of the year (Dec.31). Therefore, Lot Code 24365 indicates that the product has a Best Before date of Dec.31 2024.
A: The God in which we place our trust is the same God whose scriptures are engraved into the Peace Tower of our Parliament buildings, the same God we ask “God, keep our land glorious and free” in our national anthem, and the same God we pray “God save the Queen” in our Royal Anthem. A: If the ingredients state “gelatin” it will have been made with the most common form, which is pork. If ingredients state, “beef gelatin”, or has a Halal or Kosher symbol then the product will have been made with beef gelatin. Any “GELATIN FREE” items will be marked as such under the ingredients section.
A: Yes, we do! We have a delicious assortment of plant-based candies, which have no animal bi-products. You will find them listed under Plant Based in our Products tab.
A: No Added Sugar Products contain Maltitol and Stevia. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol, excess consumption of Maltitol can cause a laxative effect.
A: Although many of our products are gluten free, all Cottage Country branded products are packaged in the same facility as products that contain : Peanuts, Milk, Wheat, Eggs , Soy and/or Tree Nuts “
